Hi,

I am confused by the IActivityResponse.LogErrorMessage Method. I see how to use it.

response.LogErrorMessage("Message")

But where does this message go? Which log file? Where are these log messages viewed?

any help would be appreciated.

Does anyone have a guide to best practice for using ReportEvents and LogMessages and how they work?

Hi,
when I configure other Integration Packs there is always the Menu Option to set 'connection' for the Integration Pack, such as HP or IBM.

When developing your own IP with Orchestrator SDK, how do you program that function?

I can only find the [ActivityConfiguration] Attribute to implement similar behaviour. This option allows the user to create multiple configurations, however they then have to get selected in the Activity properties for each activity & runbook.

I would like a global connection string implementation that is used automatically without selecting one of the created configurations in the designer?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

I have been using the TFS IP (Version 1.4 )in conjunction with SCSM and TFS for some time and find the IP is extremely useful, great work.

I have just started to test check out/in but have encountered and issue with the check in activity. the error related to the Comments field.

If I enter a value for the comment field (my comment) I get the following error:
_Requested value 'my comment' was not found._ (full error attached))

If I leave the comment field empty I get the following error: Must specify valid information for parsing in the string.
which is expected as the field is a required field.

All other TFS IP activities work fine.

I'm in a project where I'm integrating SharePoint Forms (library) with Service Manager through Orchestrator. I'm stuck at the Attachment handling. I am able to retrieve the .xml file for the item itself and handle the information. However, when we are handling attachments, the Get Attachment List activity fails with this message:
Exception occurred in SharePointDomain::GetAttachmentCollection: Exception of type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.SoapServer.SoapServerException' was thrown.
Detail: Column 'Attachments' does not exist. It may have been deleted by another user.
I have tested and it works properly with a List Item (not a library form).

Any tips on how to handle this?

Here is the final runbook.

Integration Packs you will need:

Active Directory (CodePlex)---- imports under Activities as "SCORCH Dev - Active Directory"
Active Directory (Microsoft)---- imports under Activities as "Active Directory"
Data Manipulation (CodePlex)---- imports under Activities as "Data Manipulation"
Utilities (Built-in)
Scheduling (Built-in)
Email (Built-in)

Controls you will need:

Monitor Date/Time (from Scheduling Activity)
Format Date/Time (from Utilities Activity)
Get User (from Active Directory Activity)
Get Object Properties (from SCORCH Dev - Active Directory Activity)
Compare Multiple Values (from Date Manipulation Activity)
Send Email (from Email Activity)

Monitor Date / Time: Set you however you desire. I have mine to kick off at 12:00 pm every day.

-21 Days: (Format Date/Time)
Input

Date / Time: Published Data from {Activity end time from "Monitor Date/Time}
Format: yyyy-MM-ddThh:mm:ss

Output

Format: MM/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss
Output Adjustments: Days: -21 (change this to whatever your requirements are)

Get Employee: (Get User Object)
Properties

Select your domain that is pre-configured for your environment

Filters

Name: MemberOf | Relation: Equals | Value: Distinguished name of the group you are querying (CN=mygroup,OU=myOU,DC=domainname,DC=com)

Configuration: Pre-configured with the SCORCH Dev - Active Directory (under Options from the Toolbar)

I am trying to create a Runbook that will pull all of the users from a security group that are no disabled that have not logged into the network (Active Directory) in the last 21 days. I am using the Active Directory IP from Codeplex. I am stuck trying to get the lastLogonTimeStamp - 21 days to actually pull valid data. For troubleshooting, I am appending the lines to a text file to figure out if it is pulling the correct data, but I am stumped.

Sorry for my delayed reply, yes i did find a solution and it was also the SCORCHDev.SQL.OIP. I have found this IP to be pretty powerful and very useful, I can run a number of different .sql files and even alter the .sql files using something like a replace text activity followed by the deploy SQL scripts activity which is part of the SCORCHDev SQL IP.

Did you find a solution? I've been using the SCORCHDev.SQL.OIP to do my SQL Server table inserts. It allows more free-form SQL and lets you parameterize the input. I just set up a simple runbook and call this runbook all over especially for my logging.

Commented Issue: Error from webservice is outputtet via Write-Host [19606]

If you try to run a runbook that does not exist etc.

the error is outputtet through Write-Host

This makes it very hard to catch the error message from the webservice.
To make this work together with my internal SCSM workflows, that triggers runbooks, i have changed the module.

i also experienced that it tried to close the $response in the finally block without checking if it was null. this caused that error to be displayed instead of the real web service error.

the catch/finally now looks like this:

Do you have any comments about why it is sent to write-host, or how to get the error message? (maybe i overlooked the method you are using).

P.s. if you want, i would love to join this project and help out fixing bugs and improving the module. (I have 6 years of powershell and 2 years of Orchestrator trainer and consultant experience)

Hello again,

I have become stuck on a workflow that I am currently building. I am at a stage where I want to write data into a collection of differen tables within a database and was wondering what the best way to do this is.

I have found the 'Write To Database' activity, but this seems like a bit of a hassle to use if I am adding a whole lot of different data. Is there any way that I can add data using straight SQL. However I obviously don't want to be using hard coded SQL, I want to be able to have a template-like SQL script and then add all the data values into this template each time the workflow is run.

Yes, you need to include the entire path incl. filename here. Some extra advise: Try to avoid fixed names and use Published Data or define a variable for it. that makes it flexibleand better manageable.

Thanks for the reply. The S: drive is present, it is a network drive so it is available to all servers. After a lot of trial and error, I have finally figured out that my syntax is the issue. When giving a location for the file to be written to, i have to include an actual file name not just a folder location.

Wrong:

S:\

Right:

S:\filename.csv

Josh,

is this S: drive present on the Sharepoint server or on the Orchestrator run book server?
Why don't you download the file to a local drive on the sharepoint server and then do the SQL import from there or move the file further from the local drive to the required location. There is a run book action available to create a drive mapping.That should defenitely work.

Hi Guys,

I am quite new to SharePoint and Orchestrator and am working on an automation project to pull down a document from SharePoint and then take the data out of that document (csv file) and input it into a database. This would replace the current method of having to manually look up the data and then enter it by hand into a form.

Anyway, I have begun with the Integration Pack for Microsoft SharePoint 1.30. I have my monitor list item set up correctly, so when it sees the document uploaded, it will move to the download document activity. However i get an error (see below) on the download document activity. When I check the logs, it would seem that the correct file is being accessed as the ID I pass in comes from the ID published by the monitor list item activity. I just don't understand what the error means exactly:

Exception occurred in SharePointDomain::DownloadFile: The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.

Details: Url = http://**********.*******/*********/********************/*****/*******/Document%20Library/check.csv, Destination = S:\

The root cause has been identified checking Microsoft KB: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2738490 .

"You may experience one of the following problems while using the System Center Orchestrator Orchestration Console or when accessing System Center Orchestrator data using the Web Service:

New Runbooks and/or Folders that have been created using the Runbook Designer are not displayed even though the user has the appropriate permissions to see them.
Summary pages have incorrect results for all statistics."

System Center SP1 should have fixed this issue but it did not resolved it.
